Digital Pen Allows Students to By-pass Taking Notes on Laptops

Professors complain about students taking notes on laptops during class; students say they need to be able to do it. A compromise gadget is the EPOS digital pen, which allows students to use the device as if it were a ballpoint, then plug the device into the USB drive on their computer (EPOS software must be installed on the computer). The "notes" taken with the pen appear on the screen, then the program converts them to computer text. The pen will debut this summer, at an estimated cost of $200.
